What Happened to the Scientist Behind the Study?

February 16th 2015

Aldous Huxley and Joseph Goebbels. When this pair have been invoked to describe what’s going on in the country where you are living, you pretty much know there’s bad shit going down. Well here they are. Quoted, imaged and it’s just all so true. Scary true. Sadly true.

If you’ve sat through the presentations on the public hearing on the “strategic study on the likely significant environmental impact of the framework plan and program of research and exploitation of hydrocarbons in the Adriatic”, you get it. If you listened to the hour long presentation filled with lies, half truths and utter nonsense, you’ll understand. If you heard the representative of the goverment repeat endlessly meaningless phrases like, you won’t see it from the shore, as if they truly believed, then you know.

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

OTVORENO PISMO APEL NA SAVJEST I… - Branko Obradovic | Facebook

Well they were called out. Called out by Branka Obradović, in an open letter to Mirko Mesarić graduate. ing. Biology, and project manager on the “strategic study on the likely significant environmental impact of the framework plan and program of research and exploitation of hydrocarbons in the Adriatic”. Mirko Mesarić the man, who unashamedly pointed out that oil rigs will be great resting places for migratory birds. I guess that’s something the birds have been asking for?

In this honest, factual, emotional and scathing letter Branka Obradović points out the blatent inconsistencies of the statements by Draško Holcer PhD, President and Senior Researcher Blue World Institute of Marine, (former?) champion of dolphins. In the fall of 2014, Holcer was adamently opposed to further seismic exploration in the Adriatic sea. Two months later, he was working for the government on the strategic study claiming the science was inconclusvie.

Appearantly, as someone who fought side-by-side with Holcer to protect marine life in the Adriatic this about face is unfathomable. He posits that something unthinkable must have happened to Holcer and asks:

  • Why has Drasko Holcer stopped fighting for the dolphins?
  • What happened between September 29 2014 and January 2015
  • Was he threatened?
  • Was he replaced with a double?
  • Was he drugged?
  • Were his dolphins taken hostage?
  • Was he perhaps paid too much?

Good questions. Each option above is entirely plausible when the fingers of big oil are pulling the strings with their billion dollar checkbooks.
